Blackberry, Sidekicks, What's the Difference?

Hello, at present I do not have any kind of a pager. Zilch, nothing. The reason is that nothing I have discovered will work both at our farm and our beach home. My husband is hearing and prefers NOT to text message. He is a poor speller (like many hearies) and prefers to use his voice. Right now he calls me via Relay, but we would like to have his and hers cell phones to suit both of us. That way we can get rid of the "house" phone.

Any ideas, tips, advice? All are welcome!

Thanks, Lantana

Here are some of the differences I can think of. Anyone else that wishes to add, feel free to do so.

Sidekick:
- Built-in camera
- Better IM features
- Better keyboard (at least in my opinion)
- Easy email setup
- Has cool lights and ringtones

BlackBerry:
- No camera
- IM setup is a bit tricky
- You can add email accounts, corporate email system
- Has some really useful features like calendar
- Better battery life
- Better reception (at least for me)

Hope that helps.

The new 8800 suppose to have a camera include don't know which one though..
I totally agree with Alex about the reception on the 8700 is awesome even from msn/yahoo/aim(ramble) is pretty fast even playing games on it is awesome too ... My lil neice always wants to go on my BB to go to "google.com" to look for her favourite music band.. it's cool and fast.... it just takes time to set it up..
Don't you guys that are Americans have 711 on their BB or Sidekick for relay so that maybe help as well... I know alot of my friends have move from SK to BB and are very happy with it...
SK seems to always be out of range or servers is down too often.. (i'm just stating from my friends)

Alex, do you think there's a thing that can hook it up to a ear piece on the 8800 since it's gonna be MP3 compatible??

Take care..

Qwerty Phones

Thank you for these comments. My local deaf friends tell me the same about Side Kick, the reception can be very poor in various locations.

That leaves me with Blackberry. I have friends with 8700 and they like it very much, I have other friends who say the 8700 keys are too small and close together.

So I am still researching, perhaps I will wait until Blackberry comes out with a camera?

Keep in touch!

Really? not because of keys are so sall and close. Blackberry 8700's qwerty keyboard is vertical and sidekick's qwrty keyboard is horizertal (sp?). get it? Personaly, I haven't any problem with BBY KYBRD since 2-4-2007, my fiancee swtiched her bberry for my sk3> I am now bberry user.

My answer is no, 8800 will not have a camera come with it. If you want camera, go Blackberry 8100..

Word has it that *some* of the 8800s will come with a camera. Cingular will be the first to sell the 8800, and it will not have a camera. I read elsewhere that T-Mobile or someone else will have the 8800s with a camera.

See 3rd paragraph, last sentence here: BlackBerry 8800 Poised for Battle - Yahoo! News
