Blackberry Rulez!

Hello all!

I'm a Blackberry 7290 user on Cingular (blue) . I'm hard-of-hearing in one ear, deaf in the other, but I can use the cellphone features. Since I use a concealed-in-canal haring aid, I can wear a bluetooth headset over it for hands-free use.

My wife, her family, and our close friends are deaf and use BBs and SKs, so the wireless e-mail is more important than the cellphone portion.

Syncing with M$Outlook2003 is a great plus! It really helps me keep up on busy daze! Calendar and Contacts are loaded! With 32MB onboard, I'm not worried about going over capacity!

I'll try to frequent here often to see what I can do.

Thanks Alex!

Steve

Hello Steve, welcome to iQ.

Glad to know you're liking your Blackberry. Personally, I've never used it but I've heard good things about Blackberry pagers in general. I think if the SKII didn't exist, I would've gotten the 7290 instead.

See you around!

Blackberries rock. Sprint 7750 user here (business users only).

For all intents and purposes, the Sidekick is great, FOR ITS PRICE. What if you can afford more? Can you get a better device? The Blackberry is the big YES answer.

The Sidekick hit a GREAT price/feature point with the deaf community. $30/mo unlimited plan, FREE device, easy to use GUI, good battery life, good email, and good IM. That, and some celebrity sponsorships (hmm, Paris Hilton)

I thought that the Ogo would blow the Sidekick out of the water with a BETTER plan and BETTER coverage, but it seems that the email and GUI were only so-so.

Anyway, enough about those. The Blackberry? Awesome coverage. Awesome email and pager service. Terrific voice capabilities. Excellent battery life. Many programs. Tradeoff? Expensive phone and usually expensive plans.

But, hey, that's life when you can afford it. No "Wal-Mart phone" for me, I'll pay for my Macys or 5th Avenue or Tommy Hilfiger level phone.

When many people get a blackberry for the first time, they think, "ugh! this has nothing on it!" While SKII seems to have a lot loaded from the factory, Blackberry is like a new computer - you usually get it "plain jane"... But look out there, there are a lot of applications for Blackberry which will make it far superior to the SKII. You can learn more from others at BlackberryForums.com

Ok, some folks out there will say that the Blackberry rocks and others will gladly give their two-cents worth when it comes to the SK2, more so, with the affordable pricing that goes along with it. One thing I haven't noticed yet is anyone who has 'both' of them or has tried 'both' kinds and their own input. Of course, in most instances, items that are far more expensive than their counterparts will work far more superior....

Any users out there that have tried both kinds?

Me. My wife has SK2 and I have Blackberry. I've used hers and mine left and right, up and down, and I can say Blackberry rulez. My wife agrees... when her one-year contract is up, we are switching her to Blackberry.

Interesting--basically what is it that you and your wife can agree on the spot to what's great with Blackberry, if more, pls. list them. Thanks!

Ogo has better coverage and plan than any devices on the market. I know the interface isn't what we expected, but the colors are much more vivid in my own perspective.

I LOVEEE my 8700 but I'm waiting out for the 8800 once my contract is up... I love it cause it's coverage and it's very fast 64MB compare to my old one 7280 was like 25mb.. When I was in California the coverage was great compare to my friend's SK had trouble getting through. Even though overseas the coverage and speed of transmitting is awesome as well.. There's so many options you can download on it... such as GPA (roadmaps), the resolution on it is awesome as well... can change screensaver screen anytime...Battery life is awesome too as maybe I could go about 3 to 4 days without getting it recharged but depending how much you are on it basically.
